The May 2006 P.O.W.E.R. Collaborative Network (PCN) was lovingly coordinated by the City of Los Angeles’ Youth Opportunity Movement (YOM). We are greatly appreciative of Maryd Miller, Development Manager, for assembling such a fine array of informative presenters for the meeting. We also want to thank Dr. Gregory Burks, YOM Director, and Scott Lee, YOM Assistant Director for graciously opening and giving the PCN members a tour of the facilities. |

Roberta M. Villa shared an important program for the city of Los Angeles called Youth Opportunity Intensive Transition. Ms. Villa is working with youth on probation and assisting them with making a meaningful transition as new contributors back into the workplace. By instilling confidence, opening acceptance and demonstrating role models, her goal is to reach 92% of those youth wanting transitional help, as statistically many former offenders have yet to realize their full potential and remain unwilling to participate with work placement. Anyone wanting to have Ms. Villa share more information or to help her with placement activity, you can email her at Roberta.Villa@lacity.org. |
