Dean L. Jones, a Black Business Association President’s Award recipient works as a business strategist with the Southland Partnership Corporation (Southland), delivering sustainable supply management processes, marketing strategies, and viable community partnerships.
As a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) accredited by the Institute for Supply Management, Mr. Jones has 30 years of consistent management support to larger public and private organizations in evaluating and improving their written and practiced buying procedures, operating policies and open-access procurement capabilities. He specializes in aiding these organizations to better recruit, encourage, and use growing companies thought-outside the socioeconomic mainstream.
Consulting engagements cover a wide variety of public and private sector organizations, including Blue Cross of California, California Endowment, City of Compton, CA, City of Long Beach, CA, City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Comerica Bank, First American Corporation, GTE, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show, Los Angeles Music Center, Los Angeles County Office of Education, and Southern California Edison.
Southland aids in growing a strategic partnership of business, government, and educators to augment labor strategies for the County of Los Angeles. Since 2001, Southland manages the P.O.W.E.R. Collaborative Network [Partnership Opportunities With Educational/Economic Resources] that works with workforce resources and training service providers to maximize their community-based investments.
Mr. Jones is a K-12 student from the Los Angeles Unified School District, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration - Accounting from San Jose State University. He is an active board member with the National Black Business Council. He has received various recognition and distinction awards for his work in support of socioeconomic programs, including a special recognition from the California State Legislature for his extensive service and contributions to small business development with the state utilities' industry.
