Meeting Summary

October 2004

The Long Beach Job Corps is a great campus and a very appealing host for the October 2004 P.O.W.E.R. Collaborative Network (PCN) meeting.  PCN extends a large appreciation to Ms. Ethel Kent and Ms. Michelle Allen, Center Director, for welcoming the PCN to the Long Beach Job Corps’ campus.  The information regarding the accomplishments of Long Beach Job Corps is significant and we look forward to attending the open house celebration on October 22, 2004.  Please see the attached flyer should you want to know more detail about this event and how to reserve your attendance.

High acclaim and special thanks to Ms. Barbara Sullivan, President of Sullivan International, for taking time to visit and share information regarding recognizing and managing change.  Ms. Sullivan reminded us about the importance of dealing with change in the workplace.  Change parameters have many aspects and how we cope and manage those changes have a tremendous impact on how we get the job done, especially in leadership positions.  Ms. Sullivan quoted some of industry’s most successful leaders and their valuable observations of how they interpret change respective to their work.  The message corresponds to a large portion of the PCN members changing work environments today, getting people involved with change, and making it a success.  Thank you so much Ms. Sullivan for reminding and informing us about the value and significance of change.  It is indeed a privilege to hear and learn from such a fine presentation.  In addition, Ms. Sullivan offered specialized training processes for PCN members wanting to gain detail in this and other business programs.  Please contact her at (562) 590-0512, or email address: SullivanBA@aol.com

Reiona Smith-Ysaquirre, Program Specialist, shared new information to PCN regarding Beverly Hills High School’s WorkAbility Program.  Please feel free to contact Ms. Ysaquirre at (310) 551-5100, ext. 8520 should you want more detail.  Her email address is rsmith@bhusd.k12.ca.us
