P.O.W.E.R. Collaborative Network
Meeting Summary
May 7, 2008The P.O.W.E.R. Collaborative Network (PCN) monthly meeting for MAY 2008 was hosted by the Los Angeles Urban League’s West Adams - Baldwin Hills and Business and Career WorkSource Centers. The PCN members were fully treated to a wonderful mix of presenters and benefited greatly from the interactive information. Well Done!
The PCN members especially want to thank Billy Williams, Bobbi Smith, Elainea Robbins, and Leslie Belts from the Los Angeles Urban League for going the extra steps to make it happen. Thank you for the healthy refreshments.
Jamie Gutierrez, First Source Hiring Manager with the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) shared vital information on screening job candidates for the large number of open job opportunities with LAWA that are offered by their tenant corporations. To reach Mr. Gutierrez by telephone or email is; (310) 417-6490 and jamiegutierrez@lawa.org respectively.
Pamela Pitcher, Chief Executive Officer for Big Picture – Busy Lady, provided the PCN members with a first class interactive mini-workshop on the importance for reducing obesity and other health risks in the work place. There are no excuses for lost productivity stemming from health complications that can be prevented and controlled such as disorders associated with fat-skinny, high blood, diabetes, fatigue, laziness, and even depression. Ms. Pitcher is available for on-site consultation and workshop presentations on a wide range of workplace wellness services by contacting her at (310) 516-6285, or busylady90746@yahoo.com, and/or going to her web site; www.busyladyfitnessweb.com.
D’Ann Morris, Health Officer and Kiosha Nelson, Wellness Advocate from the Los Angeles Urban League’s Neighborhoods At Work, a community wellness initiative, delivered an outstanding (and standing) presentation for the PCN members. This excellent motivating program is getting people on a local level active with improving their respective health. Ms. Morris is available to help implement worksite wellness programs and to provide assessments to assist with training and corporate policy for wellness. Office: (323) 299-9660 or email: DAnn.Morris@laul.org
